Yercaud is a hill station in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, India, in the Shevaroy Hills of the Eastern Ghats at about 1,515 m.
Yercaud was developed as a hill station in the early 19th century after British officials found its climate cooler than the plains below, and coffee planting began in the Shevaroy Hills around the same period.
Yercaud's people speak Tamil, and many work on the coffee, orange and pepper estates; the hills are also home to the Malayali tribal community, who farm the slopes.
Yercaud lies in the Eastern Ghats, unlike Tamil Nadu's better-known hill stations, which are in the Western Ghats.
