Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Short version: Seenary sets no cookies of its own. The few cookies on this site are set by three other companies, and every one of them is listed on this page. Google Analytics sets two, so we can count visits and see how the site is used. Clerk, the service behind “Continue with Google”, sets the ones that sign-in needs. Razorpay sets its own only on the page where you buy a plan, and only once you tap Buy. Seenary uses no advertising cookies.
Everything else Seenary keeps is in your own browser's storage rather than in cookies. It stays on your device and is not sent to anyone. This page lists that too.
1. Cookies
- Google Analytics (
_ga, and_ga_followed by an ID). Set by Google's analytics script on every page, to tell one visitor from another and to group the pages opened in one visit, so we can see how many people use Seenary and which pages they use. Each lasts two years unless you clear it. Google receives the address of the page you are on and technical details of your browser and device; its own privacy policy covers what it does with them. - Sign-in with Google, through Clerk (names beginning
__client,__sessionand__clerk). Clerk is the company that handles “Continue with Google”. Its script sets these on the sign-in page, and while you are signed in with Google, to carry that sign-in; they are used for nothing else. Signing in with a phone number does not use them. - Razorpay, on the Plans page and in the upgrade sheet. Razorpay’s checkout script is loaded only when you tap a Buy button, and it sets the cookies its payment form needs for that purchase. Until you tap Buy, nothing from Razorpay is on the page. Its privacy policy covers them.
2. What is kept in your browser
Each of these is a named entry in your browser's local storage (or, where it says so, session storage, which empties when the tab closes, or IndexedDB). None of them is a cookie, and none is sent anywhere by being stored.
- Your session.
seenary_tokenkeeps you signed in, so you do not have to sign in on every page;seenary_keep_signed_inremembers whether you ticked “Keep me signed in on this device”, andseenary_last_activewhen you last did something here, so a session on a shared computer can end after 30 minutes. Signing out removes them. - Your free plan, if you have not signed in.
seenary_device, a random device identifier, andseenary_guest_token, the token for the one itinerary you can make without an account. Only an irreversible fingerprint of that identifier ever reaches us — see the Privacy Policy. - Your language (
seenary_lang), so the site opens in the one you chose. No cookie is set for it. - The theme you explore by (the region or country on the Destinations menu: Bharat, Europe and so on):
seenary_themefor this tab, in session storage, andseenary_theme_account, a copy of the choice saved to your account if you are signed in, so the next page opens the same way. No cookie is set for it. - Your display settings, copied from your account so every page can draw them without asking:
seenary_units,seenary_currency,seenary_maps_app(which maps app Directions open in),seenary_profile_synced, andseenary_offline_auto/seenary_offline_auto_donefor “Download upcoming trips”. - Your trips, for when there is no signal.

They are kept on the device on purpose — that is what makes them readable on a train with no bars. Logging out clears them, so the next person to use the device cannot read them. - The offline lock. If you lock your saved trips,
seenary_offline_accountremembers whose copies these are after a session ends,seenary_lockholds the lock (the key wrapped by your PIN or passkey, never the PIN itself),seenary_lockbox(IndexedDB) holds the encrypted copies,seenary_offline_unlockednotes that you unlocked them, andseenary_forget_pending/seenary_ended_everywhere/seenary_just_logged_outcarry a sign-out across the next page load. - Where you were going.
seenary_after_loginandseenary_return_tobring you back to the page you were on after signing in;seenary_pending_prompt,seenary_pending_destination,seenary_pending_companion,seenary_booking_intentandseenary_last_destinationcarry a destination, a message or an imported booking from one page into the planner;seenary_invite_autojoinandseenary_claim_autofinish accepting an invitation or a hand-over after sign-in. - The assistant.
seenary_help_ticketremembers the support conversation you have open, andseenary_help_leftone you chose to leave. - Small conveniences, such as whether you last viewed My Trips as a list or a grid (
seenary_trips_layout), the planner’s list or map view (seenary_canvas_view,seenary_map_pinned), the currencies you last converted between and the rates fetched for them (seenary_fx_from,seenary_fx_to,seenary_fx_rates), the phrasebook’s language (seenary_phrase_lang), a cached copy of your avatar (seenary_avatar_cache), the day’s suggestion seed (seenary_suggest_seed) and your trivia scores (seenary_trivia_…).
The app has settings of its own on the phone — the translator’s and the scanner’s languages, for instance — which are device preferences, not an account’s data.
3. The offline copy of the site
Seenary installs a service worker — a small script your browser keeps — so the pages, styles and images you have already visited load without a connection. It stores the site itself, and a copy of your own trips and profile for the account that fetched them, which signing out removes.
4. Your choices, and clearing it
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. Seenary works the same without the Google Analytics cookies; Google also offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every site. Without Clerk's cookies, “Continue with Google” cannot sign you in, but signing in with a phone number still works. Without Razorpay’s, a purchase on the website cannot complete; the apps buy through the App Store and Google Play instead.
The “Usage analytics” switch in Settings controls the extra usage events the Seenary app can send (see the Privacy Policy); it does not turn Google Analytics off on the website.
Logging out removes your session and the trips cached on that device. Clearing your browser's site data for Seenary, or uninstalling the app, removes everything listed above, cookies included. Your account and your trips live on our servers and are not affected by that — sign in again and they come back.
5. Third parties
Some pages load things from other companies' servers, which then see your IP address and what was requested: Google Analytics on every page; Clerk's sign-in script, delivered through the jsDelivr network, on the sign-in page; Razorpay’s checkout script once you tap Buy; map tiles from OpenFreeMap (OpenStreetMap data) on pages that show a map; place photographs from Google Maps Platform; destination photographs from Wikimedia Commons, credited on Photo credits, and a few stand-in photographs from Unsplash when those cannot be loaded. A “Book” link on an experience opens Viator’s site in a new tab; nothing from Viator is loaded until you do. Each is governed by that company's own policy. Seenary embeds no advertising or social-media scripts.
6. Contact
If anything on this page is unclear, or you find something in Seenary that behaves differently, tell us through Talk to us.
This policy is written and published in English. Where you read it in another language, that translation is provided for convenience and is produced automatically; the English text is the one that applies.
