Where it is
Yadagirigutta is a hill-temple town in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana, on a rocky hillock of the Deccan plateau about 65 km north-east of Hyderabad.
History
Tradition, drawing on the Skanda Purana, says the sage Yada, son of Rishyasringa, did penance on the hill and Narasimha appeared to him in five forms, worshipped in a cave shrine at the summit. Between 2016 and 2022 the temple was rebuilt on a grand scale in black granite, and it is now one of Telangana's most visited shrines.
People
Yadagirigutta's people speak Telugu and live from farming and the pilgrim trade, and many families from Hyderabad make day trips to the temple. The annual Brahmotsavam festival draws large crowds.
